COAST Purpose

 

The biological and clinical understanding of development defects of the craniofacial skeleton is an exciting area of research. From causes to treatment, these disorders require the collaboration of experts from medical, dental, and surgical specialties. This conference will focus on the current status and future aspects of this dynamic research area. In an informal environment designed to foster open exchange, expert researchers and clinicians will discuss the current status and likely future developments in all aspects of this field, including international collaborations, evidence-based care, normal and abnormal molecular basis of human development, genetic testing, prevention, and biological and surgical therapies. This meeting will incorporate oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions focusing on the important issues of future needs, new animal models, treatment modalities, and others.
